UF/IFAS Extension Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) programs provide practical information to motivate and empower individuals and families with the skills needed to adopt and sustain a healthy lifestyle and to achieve financial success. The UF/IFAS Extension Family Nutrition Program (FNP) empowers families with limited resources to take control of their health.FNP programs teach people how to eat healthy on a budget and to get physically active in order to reduce the risk of obesity and chronic disease.

Nutrition & Weight Management

Nutrition education programs, cooking demonstrations, hands-on cooking courses, grocery store tours, and walking programs for both adults and youth are offered county wide through partner organizations, worksites, and schools. Programming is also provided to increase access to fresh fruits and vegetables through school and community gardening projects.

Mindfulness & Stress

Mindfulness-based stress reduction programs focused on practices that address health in the holistic sense - physical, social and emotional health, are offered to both adults and youth at worksites, schools, and at the UF/IFAS Extension Clay County office. Concepts in mindfulness practices include mindful eating, positive affirmations, management of emotions, and being present in the current moment.

Financial Literacy

Programs focusing on basic personal finance skills relevant to the lives of pre-teens, teens, and young adults are provided through partner schools and organizations to help lay a solid foundation for the financial independence and future financial decisions of our counties youth.
